The first breakout session was handled by a facilitator who engaged the students in questions related to climate change, global warming and their concerns on the effect of climate change in their environment. The students gave insightful answers and showed a keen interest in the discussions. During the second breakout session, the students discussed the causes and effects of climate change as anchored by the facilitator. Some of the causes the students believed were responsible for the unfavourable shifts in climate conditions includes the indiscriminate felling of trees, use of fossil fuels, uses of non-renewable energy and environmental pollution, especially improper waste disposal of plastic bags and bottles. One major part of their discussion was on green gas emission and how to prevent global warming.
In the third breakout session, the students suggested different solutions for the issues raised during the second session. Some of these solutions are things they can put into immediate action in their school and around their community such as planting of trees, proper disposal of wastes, avoiding bush burning and planting of trees.
In conclusion, the school resolved to form an active Ecoheroes club with the slogan Go Green to Save the Planet.
