With technical and funding support from Green Growth Africa in Partnership with the University of Waterloo – WISE, Canada and Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability, USA, Egyptian Modern Model School in Hadejia, Jigawa State, Nigeria, hosted the Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice Event. This event involved 79 participants including all staff members, students, and non-academic staff. The event lasted for an hour and 47 minutes, and it was divided into four breakout sessions.

The first session involved brainstorming on climate change and its impacts. The students learned about greenhouse gases, deforestation, and other human activities that contribute to global warming. In the second session, students were grouped and given different topics to discuss. They presented their findings on the main causes of climate change, the negative impacts of climate change, and possible solutions to mitigate climate change.


The third session featured a drama presentation that captured the impact of climate change on the environment and the importance of environmental education. The students acted as environmental activists, climate change skeptics, and an environment education teacher. The drama emphasized the need for everyone to take responsibility for the environment.


The fourth and final session involved tree planting. The selected students were given three different plant species and planted them across the school compound. The tree planting served as a practical demonstration of the importance of afforestation in mitigating climate change.
The event was a huge success, with everyone playing a part in creating awareness about the need to tackle climate change. It emphasized the need for everyone to take action and work towards a sustainable environment.
